LUCA BELLUCO REIMAGINES ALPHAVILLE'S "SOUNDS LIKE A MELODY" FOR 2025
Luca Belluco has turned to the 80s for inspiration, taking on Alphaville's classic while adding his own club-ready elements.
The French producer brings "Sounds Like A Melody" to the dance floor, mixing the original's vocals with deep basslines and modern production.
For Belluco, music has been a constant since age 15, when DJing helped him find his place and connect with others through the dance floor. His sets and productions focus on getting people moving, with influences ranging from Tale Of Us to Kevin de Vries.
The decision to remix Alphaville came naturally - the original is a favorite of his mother's, and unlike "Forever Young" (recently remixed by David Guetta), "Sounds Like A Melody" hasn't seen many modern interpretations.
Working in Ableton 12 with a suite of modern production tools, Belluco kept the iconic vocals while building new elements around them.
The remix combines Alphaville's original vocals with rolling bass patterns and arpeggios that build throughout the track. "I think it's important to remix tracks from the 80s - it brings something fresh to both the original and the style," says Belluco.
Using plugins like VPS Avenger, Nexus, and TAQSIM, he focused on finding elements that worked naturally with the original vocals. The result sits comfortably in today's melodic techno sets while keeping the emotion of the 1984 version.
